Days passed by;
Jonas now had learned many colors and started identifying them in the community. The Giver and
Jonas spent many training hours discussing about the unfairness of the
government and its decisions. The Giver passed on Jonas awesome memories
like birthday
parties, museums, animals, grandfathers, Christmas and a feeling
that Jonas was looking forward to learn, love. The Giver needed to give Jonas awful memories as well
because sooner or later, Jonas needed to learn these memories to make sure they
don’t happen again, Jonas appeared in the middle of a war with many
people agonizing. Jonas was very interest in the feeling called “love” so he
decided not to take the pill the next morning.
What
really took my attention is the part when Jonas thought about the pain,
“They have
never known pain, he thought. The realization made him feel desperately lonely,
and he rubbed his throbbing leg. He eventually slept. Again and again he dreamed of the anguish and the
isolation on the forsaken hill. ” (Lowry, 110)
The author is
trying to communicate us the importance of mistakes. Lowry, want us to know
that even that pain hurts, it shows us important things in live, we are able to
take precautions for the next time. Pain is an experience very important
because we learn from it many things. For example, we are able to difference
the good and the bad things of going in a bike, and knowing the bad things we
are able to find a way to not get hurt. We need to be strong enough and have
enough courage to overcome fear and fight against it.
Throughout the
book, Lois Lowry is trying to communicate us that it is important to value what
we have. Now we live in a world with abundant species and life, color and
scenery. Maybe in a future, just like in the book, there will be no such thing
as color or animals. Lois Lowry is trying to communicate that it is important
for us to treasure what we have now and give thanks for it.

ReplyDeleteIsa, I think that your summary was precise and had the perfect length. In your text response I agree with you. I also think that it is very important to experience pain. It doesn't only hurt and make us know what not to do in the future. Pain and what it teach us makes us also grow as humans and be better in life.

Ale, we think the same way about the importance of pain. As well, I think that pain makes us stronger. Furthermore, pain affects each people in a different way, it depends on many things, like the way you are, your past, feelings, family…. But we can always learn from it.
DeleteIsabella: i found your responces very intresting you give them a special touch that makes your post different from the others.
ReplyDeleteJose Ignacio, thank you for your comments, life is full of lessons and leanings. I am enjoying this book very much I am learning a lot of it.
DeleteIsa, I really liked your blog with all the colors and pictures. In your introduction you expained very well what happened on those chapters. Your text response was very thoughtful and fun to read. I agree with you in your conclusion and, do you think that it may happen?
ReplyDeleteClau, thank you for your comments, I am happy that you enjoyed my blog. About your question, yes Clau, I think this could happen on the future, especially not having animals. Now there are many animals in extinction, and plenty that had gone extinct, we are losing a huge treasure.
DeleteIsa, I couldn't agree with you more on your response if we don't value what we have now in the present we might loose it in the future. I think your blog is very well organised and it's very different form the others,
ReplyDeletePatrick, I am really concern about what we have now in the world and what we had lost already. Maybe the actions that the world is taken are not good enough to safe what we have. What do we need to do? This is something we need to think about. Thanks for your nice comments.
DeleteIsa, I really liked your way of telling what happened in this last chapters, I have a question for you... If you were Jonas watching all the collors ( the capacity to see beyond) would you like to be different? Or if you have the chance to give it away would you?
ReplyDeleteAle, if I were Jonas I wouldn’t give away my gift, not a chance I will really enjoy being able to see colors. I will like to be different from the rest because I will learn many things from the past and know the truth.
