When I had my "interview" I noticed
that this book is a Dystopia story because it had a perfect world and the truth
was hidden. In the summary found on the back "Jonas s world is perfect. Everything is under control.
There is no war or fear or pain. There are no choices. Every person I assigned
a role in the community. When Jonas turns twelve; he is singled out to receive
special training from The Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true
pain and pleasure of life. Now it’s time for Jonas to receive the truth. There
is no turning back. “I could
infer, using my previous knowledge about dystopia, that the truth is hidden
since the part that says "Now it’s time for Jonas to receive the
truth" I can infer
that the in the book the Giver is going to play an important part in the life
of the boy named Jonas. The Giver will actual tell Jonas that the truth is
hidden, that the Giver actually know the difference between pain and pleasure.
I
think that when Lowry states "For
all the children to whom we entrust the future" he means that the children should be more devoted
to society by reading. This means that kids should read more about the governors
and learn from their mistakes. Take an example of the past, and prevent any inaccuracy
in the future. This also means that kids will be able to be
prepared for any situations like it, by gaining more knowledge.
I think
the book will be about a kid that questions
himself about none—perfect world. Since he is curios, not like other kids, he starts
investigating why the government is keeps so many secrets and are afraid of
having a war. In school he questioned the teachers very much about this topic
and the teachers were scared about this rebellion thoughts. The teachers talked
to the director and the director to the vice-president. The vice-president
consulted with the president and finally they will wait till the kid was 12. When
Jonas was 12 years old he had an especial call from the governor. In the governors
palace Jonas meet a man called The Giver. The Giver talked Jonas and The Giver
(an old man) told his story when he was little. Full of
war, poverty, illness and many more problems. When the Giver and Jonas talked
the Giver gave strange signals. He was telling Jonas in an indirect way (texts,
words) that the governors of that year were cheating on everyone and the governors
were full of abscission.
I liked very much about the cuote that you put. i agree because it make a to of scence jonas is starting to feel lonely and to not enjoy the games because he remember of war and know one of his friends understand him because they don't feel that way.
